Or is this a hakama outfit? I don’t know enough about the Japanese culture to know the difference, but this was fun to set up and shoot. The chest was bought recently so I was itching to use it for a shoot. It’s not Japanese but I love the wood textures on these old chest.
The lighting is a mixed bag. For the main light on the left, I used a beauty dish with a grid. Just to the right of my camera was a giant octo for a fill. Then another fill light on the bottom, which was a rectagular softbox placed on the floor. Though the lighting setup felt messy, it did provide some interesting contrast between the hard main light and the softer fill lights.
